RULES
- Ophthalmologists under 40 attending YOSICON 2025.
- All work must be original. Plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
- No pre-built work solutions will be accepted. All work must be done during the hackathon only. Pre-existing projects must be significantly modified/built upon with concrete clarity on new additions.
Team Composition:
- Each team must consist of upto 5 members, of which there can be a maximum of 3 ophthalmologists and a maximum of 2 engineers.
- Engineers will be allocated
Timeline:
- Day 1 & 2: PROBLEM SOLVING PHASE – Selected teams will design, prototype or develop a solution. Mentorship support will be available during working hours
- Day 3: PRESENTATION AND JUDGING – Teams will present their solution in a period of 5 minutes, followed by a Q&A session lasting 5 minutes. Evaluation will be done by a panel of judges consisting of ophthalmologists, tech experts and healthcare innovators.
Final Submission Requirements:
- Final pitch deck (PowerPoint)
- Demo video/Live demonstration.
- Brief report (Max. 2 pages) outlining problem statement, methodology and impact.
- All basic medical ethics and digital privacy norms must be adhered to.
Judging Criteria:
- Clinical relevance and impact/need in ophthalmology.
- Innovation, creativity and novelty.
- Technical and practical feasibility
- User-friendliness
- Quality and creativity of the presentation of the pitch
Support and Resources:
- Power, workspace and mentorship will be provided on-site.
- Teams must bring their own laptops, kits and prototyping materials.
- Basic prototyping tools like 3D printers, soldering kit, microcontrollers will be made available depending on the venue.
